About Featured Book: Shine a Light by Nicky Corcoran

My book ‘Shine a Light’ is an updated version
(Updated in May 2025).

The paperback is written in English and is priced at £5.50.
It is also available in kindle unlimited for free.

‘Shine A Light’ puts a spotlight on
real-life experiences. This inspirational book
of twenty-seven poems (one of which is a four-
part poem called ‘Summer Holiday’).
All poems talk about life-experiences, some of
which are personal to the Author herself, from
growing up in the 1960’s right through to recent
times. The Author covers many a subject such
as hormonal changes, bullying and hate-
crimes, sexual orientation, sexism, child abuse,
mental health, religion.and relevant issues in
the world.
The Author also talks about love, compassion,
happiness, education, holidays and coming
together to care and share our problems, and to keep optimism in your heart and soul.
One thing that is clear is that the
Author gives her encouragement and can
relate herself and her own life experiences
to those of her readers. She understands
that sometimes life can be cruel and
unpredictable, and the pressures can
become overwhelming at times (just like a
rollercoaster ride – one minute up, the next
minute down).
The Author wants us to develop a certain
mindset to prepare ourselves for the challenges that life can throw our way, to come together, join hands and learn from our mistakes, reflect and improve our lives and for future generations. Together we can stamp out greed, selfishness, and hate!!
The poems in this book will leave you, the
reader with mixed emotions. Some may make
you laugh; some may make you sad and may
bring a tear to your eye!
ALWAYS REMEMBER, NEVER GIVE UP HOPE
Have you developed the skills and the strength of mind to survive, to become a good role-model for generations to

Featured Book: Completely Opposite by Nellie Holloday

Later, after the dishes are done and the house falls into that soft, sleepy hush, I step out onto the porch. The air smells like pine and a hint of grilled corn, and somewhere a coyote yips into the night before settling back into silence.
I sink into the porch swing, pulling my knees close, and stare out at the stars. They’re sharp and scattered tonight, like someone flung a handful of diamonds across black velvet.
Emma’s words from earlier echo in my head: “You can’t outrun something that’s already in your heart.”
I think about Maisie’s tearful eyes, the way Jack’s voice cracked just a little when he said don’t leave us, and how his hand brushed mine when he helped clear the table, quick, accidental, but enough to make something deep inside me ache.
I close my eyes, and in the silence, the truth settles heavy and sure.
I want to belong here, more than I should, more than I planned.
But wanting something this much only stirs the fear that surrounds me. And I can’t help wondering… am I strong enough to face it?
