Which included a close shave with one of the his Majesty’s Coldstream Guards, a bloody struggle with a 14 foot Shark in Singapore and problems caused by a huge tidal wave. Coming to the aid a stowaway prostitute and an unexpected face off with a very large well-armed Maharaga’s aide. Very many incidents happened while ashore including an encounter with Maori natives and a nasty kidnapping attempt while in Tangiers. Some embarrassing moments in a Japanese bath house when it wasn’t just Paul’s temperature that was rising. His voyage latterly became laced with romantic difficulties when he breaks the cardinal rule and falls in love with a crew member, the lovely Joanne Carroll, which leads to severe complications as they conduct a torrid clandestine affair.
